I have been revisiting a lot of my old wedding and portrait photography in preparation of getting them touched up, re-sized and re-branded when I came across one of my favorite shots. This one was taken back in April of 2008 and that is Sherri and Tom that you see there. This photo really goes to show you how an artists technique and know-how can turn the ordinary into extraordinary to create memorable images that just “Wow”. Who needs Photoshop, this ‘blur‘ effect was done entirely in-camera!

I have been REAL busy these days and apologize for not posting any new blog entries this year… Aside from shooting all the time and re-branding the biz, my wife and I are busy remodeling practically our entire house in preparation for our new arrival in January… I barely have a free second to sneeze these days.
I have a whole year’s worth of weddings from 2010 that I would like to get posted online but want to do them justice and give a nice write up about each and everyone so look out for those soon. Thanks for your patience!
I think we have been going through business names like water these days. First was Michael Alan Photography way back in 2005. Last year, I felt bad that Becky was playing such a big role in the business yet wasn’t getting the recognition she deserved so we switched things to Paramour Photography back in 2009.
Becky is about 14 weeks pregnant with our second child so we both agreed that it will be best for her to focus on being the best mom she can be to our children and I will fly solo with the photography… Shooting a wedding has become way too taxing on her so she will be sitting on the sidelines for now. I do have a couple amazing second shooters to take Becky’s place for the rest of the 2010 wedding season so no worries there.
So I present to you the final re-branding of our business — Michael Alan Bielat. Same great service. same great photos.
Thanks for everyone’s support and understanding.
~MIKE
Yeah that is totally the back of my head at around 1:40 of the video while I was photographing Dave and Jillianna on their wedding a couple days ago… Still counts in my book! haha.
In all seriousness, this is really crummy that the State of New York is closing all these parks… It almost makes me want to run for office because these career politicians are jokes! Knox Farm is one of my favorite places and it closed today.
I’m fortunate in that I have an amazing ability to take photos of our son. I realize that not everyone has this opportunity. As a photographer, I photograph a portrait session and then have parents come to our home studio to pick out the photos that they want printed. However, we see all the time that there are more photos that our clients would love to have but simply cannot afford. Being a parent myself, it would kill me to know that there were photos of my child that I’m in love with but cannot have and that will be gone for good.
Because of this I have decided to do a special portrait promotion. For the price of $500, you will receive a photo session with myself along with a disc of all the images (in high-resolution) and a copy release form. These images will be large enough so that you can also blow them up to any size you would like. I’m are hoping that with a special like this that you will be able to capture this special time in your life.
From experience, I am urging you to capture the moments. This promotion is valid for ANY type of portrait session. Maternity, family, newborn…you name it, just give me a call at 716-491-8854 and book your session today.

“A photo says you were happy and I wanted to catch that. A photo says, you were so important to me that I put down everything else to come watch”
I haven’t posted pics of our little guy (who is not so little anymore BTW) in a while so I decided to shoot his year and a half portraits entirely on film. Man I am loving film! It brings me back to when I first started photography over thirteen years ago. All I am missing now is the smell of those chemicals in the dark room Probably not the most healthy thing for you but nevertheless… Enough blabbering, time for the pics.
Mark Lutz of the Digital Wedding Forum has this cool blog post about my Weddings 2.0 Package that we are now officially offering. Its worth a quick read:
Becky and I never imagined that this contest would have had so many participants voting. As you can tell it took us some time to tally up all the numbers. I really want to thank everyone for voting.
We finished tallying things up and have a winner for our 2009 Best in Show contest.
Keith and Lindsay had the most votes and the bride and groom now have an 11×14″ fine art canvas gallery wrap coming their way of the winning image.
Now I am a geek at heart. I absolutely love my gadgets and technology in general. My wife will even vouch for me since I always try to sneak a cool new gadget in her Christmas and Birthday presents whenever I can.
Now, don’t get me wrong, the film photographer in me still loves tangible products like fine art proofs, canvas gallery wraps, coffee table books and wedding albums. However, these aren’t always “ideal” for carting around and showing off. An iPad on the other hand weighs in at under 2 lbs. and is the perfect tool to show off your wedding photographs. It’s small, chic and rugged and is the perfect portable solution to showcasing the images from your beautiful day. That is why all Wedding 2.0 Packages will include an album and other tangible items along with an iPad… or two
With that, I present to you Weddings 2.0 The new era of wedding photography has arrived and you have seen it right here first at Paramour Photography.
This wedding package will be available for all new clients of ours. Contact the studio at (716) 491-8854 for more information. I already have one already pre-ordered and will be able to show it off at client meetings come April 4th. So be sure to check it out and see all the crazy stuff that we will be doing with it. I can’t give everything away on the blog
We are starting a new tradition over here at Paramour Photography. Below you will see a half dozen of our favorite wedding pics from 2009. Please take a moment to vote for which one you like best.
